Rum and Reggae!

It is good to see the Quarry Park used to stage events that bring pleasure to so many people, both visitors and residents. A handful, this year, have been on the noisy side. If we buy a ticket to go to a concert and we don't like it, then we can simply leave. If the concert - or any event for that matter - is forced upon us in our own homes and gardens, then we don't have the choice to leave! So it is important that sounds emanating from the Quarry do not cause a nuisance for Residents.

Regardless of the quality of the music and the reactions of the audience within the Quarry, Rum and Reggae, unfortunately, was all too audible throughout the town. STCRA Chair submitted a formal complaint to Shrewsbury Town Council immediately after the event, and we understand that several residents also made their views known.

A formal response was received from Shrewsbury Town Council, but it was, in our view, not satisfactory in addressing the real issues involved. Therefore, STCRA has submitted a formal Appeal against this response. This will be dealt with in accordance with the Council's Complaints Procedure - and we will keep you posted.

Meanwhile, we continue to have constructive dialogue with the relevant officers of both Councils, in order to find a sustainable solution to the situation.
